VIRTUOSI OF TEL AVIV

 
 

The Virtuosi of Tel-Aviv ensemble, which brings together the musicians of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of maestro Zubin Mehta, was created in 1996 by the violinist and composer Alexander Povolotsky.The ensemble consists of three violins, viola, cello and bass. Highly praised throughout the world, the Virtuosi of Tel-Aviv ensemble has performed at various international festivals in Israel and abroad, and has also toured across the United States, Canada, Europe, South America.The ensemble recorded several albums of compositions created and arranged by Alexander Povolotsky.“The Melodies of My Childhood” is a selection of compositions on Jewish folk themes.“From Classic to Jazz” masterfully combines light classical music and the American jazz classics. Recordings have also been made with renowned opera singers and for various television and radio performances in Israel as well as abroad.In 2008 Alexander Povolotsky arranged a new program performed by the Virtuosi of Tel-Aviv jointly with one of the most famous orchestras in the world, the Moscow Virtuosi ensemble of soloists. The program included famous classical pieces, Jewish folk melodies and jazz compositions. Renowned artists such as Zubin Mehta, Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Shlomo Mintz and many others have praised the mastery of Alexander Povolotsky and the performing art of the ensembles under his direction.The ensemble has a variety of programs ranging from traditional Jewish music to classical music in jazz arrangements. The ensemble often performs with internationally acclaimed opera singers.
